MAKEUP

"How long will my appointment take?"

Depending on the look you'd like, it could take anywhere between 45 min. to 1.5 hours to complete the desired makeup look.

"Is it better to get my hair done before or after my makeup?"

That is completely up to you. We can work around your hair if you choose to get it done before your makeup.

"Will my makeup last all day?"

Yes, your makeup will absolutely last all day. We apply products designed for your skin type for a long-lasting application.

"Can I use my own false eyelashes?"

Yes, you may use your own eyelashes if you choose, however, they must be a brand new, never used pair. The fee for me to apply your eyelashes is $5.

"If I bring my own foundation, will it be cheaper?"

No, it will not be cheaper if you bring your own foundation. You are paying for our expertise and knowledge of makeup as well as the service. Very little of the price goes towards the use of product. 9 times out of 10 when a client has brought their own foundation, it has been the wrong shade and we end up using our own foundation anyway.

"Which brands do you use?"

We use only the highest quality makeup brands that we trust. Our kit is comprised of many different makeup brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills, Make Up For Ever, Laura Mercier, Too Faced, Tarte, MAC, e.l.f., etc. However, we do not believe that the brand of makeup results in a better makeup application. It's all about technique.

"I have eyelash extensions. Can I still wear eye makeup?"

You can still wear eye makeup with eyelash extensions. We only use oil-free products around the eyes of Clients with eyelash extensions to prevent ruining them. Although we will try our best, we can not guarantee that eye shadow will not fall out on to your eyelash extensions. Be sure to use an oil-free makeup remover when removing your makeup.

"I have sensitive skin. Will makeup make me break out?"

Breakouts happen when your skin is clogged and congested. We can not guarantee that your skin will not breakout. We always prep the skin before the makeup application to prevent breakouts. We use the best of the best products to ensure that your skin is safe and happy. It is your responsibility to remove your makeup at the end of the day. The correct removal will ensure that your skin is squeaky clean. See our Aftercare tips on how to properly remove your makeup. If you need some extra help, you can always book an Express Facial with us for the day after your makeup appointment.

"How do you keep your kit clean?"

Where I can, a fresh set of brushes will be used for each client. At the end of each workday, all brushes are thoroughly washed from bristle to handle with makeup brush shampoo, left to dry overnight, and then disinfected with alcohol spray. For large group bookings, brushes are sprayed in between each client with makeup brush cleaner and sprayed with alcohol. Disposable tools are also used where possible (i.e. mascara wands, eyeliner wands, sponges, lip-gloss wands, etc.)

A makeup palette is used to ensure there is no double dipping or cross contamination from skin to product. All powder palettes are sprayed with alcohol to disinfect in between clients and at the end of each workday.

BRIDAL MAKEUP

"Is a Bridal Consultation/Trial mandatory?"

Yes, prior to booking your wedding day makeup, it is mandatory to first book a bridal consultation/trial. The consultation and trial take place on the same day. During your consultation, we will discuss your skin type, the look you'd like to achieve for your wedding day, and your wedding day details (colour scheme, etc.) to create a custom look tailored specifically to your features. The consultation will be followed by the trial where we will execute the agreed makeup look. A face chart will be completed to note all products/shades used. Your bridal trial should take place at least 4-5 months prior to your wedding day to ensure my availability. Feel free to book your trial on the day of your engagement photos or bridal shower to make the most of your look!

"Do you have your own team of artists or work alone?"

I currently work alone, however if you have a large bridal party with an early ready time and I know that it would be too much for me to complete on my own, I will reach out to my trusted MUA peers for assistance. Please keep in mind that other MUA's may have different pricing from mine.

"How should I prepare my skin for my makeup on my wedding day?"

Avoid trying out any new skin care products on the day of your wedding to avoid a possible reaction. You should also avoid face oils on the day of your wedding to prevent your makeup from separating. You should be exfoliating your skin 2-3x a week in the months leading up to your wedding day. Remember, your makeup will only look as good as the skin underneath it. If you choose, you may also remove any unwanted facial hair. Dermaplaning removes peach fuzz and exfoliates. If waxing, be sure to do this about 1 week prior to your wedding day just in case you have a post-wax breakout.

"How do I know if my booking is secure?"

Wedding bookings are not secure unless I have received both your paid deposit and signed bridal contract. If neither of these have been received by me, your wedding date is still available for other brides to book. Emails stating my availability do not mean that your date is secure.

"How do I know what makeup look suits me best?"

When deciding on the finish of your wedding makeup, I like to tell my clients to look at themselves in every mirror and to take a bunch of photos in different lighting and at different angles with different cameras. Your makeup will look different every single time. Although natural makeup looks beautiful in person, it won't translate on camera. And while full/heavy glam shows up amazingly on camera, it will feel heavy on your face and will look even heavier in person, potentially leaving you unrecognizable. I like to choose the soft glam middle ground: a look that’s not too light but also not too heavy either. Thin layers but a lot of layers. My makeup motto has always been “enhance your beauty, not mask it.” Please be mindful of this and choose the makeup artist that fits your overall goal for your big day.

BODY CONTOURING

"What is Body Contouring?"

Body Contouring is an umbrella term for many different services and is a non-surgical alternative to traditional cosmetic surgery. It is 100% non-invasive (no needles, no knives, no downtime). Body Contouring uses advanced technology to break down, melt, and liquefy stubborn fat cells and release the toxins from your body via your lymphatic system (sweat and urine).

"Who is the ideal candidate for Body Contouring?"

The ideal candidate is someone who tries to maintain a healthy lifestyle, is within a healthy BMI, has no health complications, or just wants to maintain their figure.

"Will Body Contouring make me lose weight?"

Body Contouring is not a weight loss program. Body Contouring is designed to make your body do things it does naturally but just in a faster and more advanced way. It is very important to maintain a healthy lifestyle through diet, exercise, and water intake. These 3 things work hand-in-hand with Body Contouring to give you optimal results in as little sessions as possible.

"How many sessions will I need?"

Results vary from Client to Client depending on the clients' metabolism, lifestyle, and consistency. We always recommend an estimated number of sessions but you could need more or fewer sessions than what we suggest depending on how fast your body works to release the toxins as well as how hard you work to maintain the results. We usually recommend 8-12 sessions for optimal results. Come by for a FREE Consultation to see how many sessions we recommend for you.

"Are the results permanent?"

During the treatments, we kill off the fat cells leading to permanent results. But just because we have killed off the old fat cells, it doesn't mean that new fat cells can't grow in the same area if you don't maintain a healthy lifestyle.

"How often do I have to come to my sessions?"

Sessions should be completed on a weekly basis. 1 session a week is the minimum, 2 sessions a week is ideal. Consistency is key with Body Contouring. You can not disappear for a month in between sessions and expect the same results. It will not happen. Once all of your sessions are complete, it's important to keep up with your results by coming back for Maintenance Sessions. Maintenance Sessions should ideally occur once every 2 weeks or at least once a month at the minimum.

"How much time should I wait in between my sessions?"

Depending on the treatment used, we recommend waiting 24-72 hours in between sessions.

"When will I see results?"

Again, Client results vary from person to person. We've had Clients see results after their first session and we've had clients who don't see results until a few sessions in. We take measurements and/or before and after pictures at the end of each session and send them to you in a side-by-side collage to help you keep track of your progress. It's hard to see the small day-to-day changes in your own body so we use these pictures to show you that changes really are happening..and fast!

1:1 TRAINING

"Will I be a Certified Makeup Artist like you after the training?"

Not quite. Our makeup training is not an accredited certification course. Our training is specifically designed to help improve your makeup technique and make you more comfortable when working with makeup. Whether you're learning how to do makeup on yourself or are already certified but need to brush up on or improve your technique, this training will be beneficial for you. Although you will receive a Certificate of Completion for our full-face courses, it's very important to ensure that you attend an Accredited Cosmetic Institution for your full Makeup Artist certification just as we did.
